Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve?
We provide in-home and mobile audiology services throughout the Greater Anne Arundel County area, including Severna Park, Annapolis, Pasadena, and Crofton. Telehealth visits are available for patients outside our regular travel area.
How does in-home hearing care work?
Dr. Sperry brings the full audiology experience directly to you — comprehensive evaluations, hearing aid fittings, Real-Ear Measurement verification, and follow-up care, all in the comfort of your own home, assisted living community, or workplace.
Do you accept insurance?
Severn Sound & Balance is currently finalizing contracts with Medicare, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and UnitedHealthcare, expected within the next 60 days. In the meantime, diagnostic evaluations may already be billed to insurance when covered, and patients with out-of-network benefits can still be seen for testing — you'll receive a receipt with everything needed to self-submit for reimbursement.
Hearing technology is private-pay, with transparent, unbundled pricing. Where a hearing aid benefit is available, we're happy to submit directly on your behalf once contracted, or provide the documentation you need to submit a claim yourself.
You're also always welcome to pay privately for any visit, whether you're uninsured or simply prefer not to use insurance.
What is the Severn Sound Clarity Protocol?
It's our evidence-based approach to fitting and follow-up care, included with every level of hearing technology. It includes Real-Ear Verification, whole-person evaluation, guided auditory training, communication counseling, and a full year of follow-up support — because the device is only part of the outcome.
How do I know which technology level is right for me?
During your evaluation, Dr. Sperry assesses your hearing, lifestyle, and communication needs together — then recommends a level from our Listening Ladder that truly fits your day-to-day life, not a one-size-fits-all package.
Do you see patients of all ages?
Yes. Dr. Sperry's background includes pediatric and school-based audiology alongside adult and geriatric care, so we welcome patients at every stage of life — from your child's first hearing screening to your parent's golden years.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. Telehealth is available for follow-up care, hearing aid troubleshooting, and counseling — ideal if you're outside our travel area or simply prefer a virtual visit.
What if I need help with balance or dizziness?
Vestibular and balance care is coming soon to Severn Sound & Balance. Reach out to be notified when this service becomes available.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing is available through CareCredit and Allegro Credit. Ask us about your options during your evaluation.
